In GOOD Company:
APERTURE CHAIR
In 2019 we were selected to participate in a juried exhibition curated by Fernando Mastrangelo and Rossana Orlandi. For In Good Company, we created our Aperture Chair. The pattern for our first chair has since become a staple in our lexicon of patterns when working with our MetaMATERIAL. The Aperture Chair was our first piece combining the geometric shapes from our Retrograde pattern with our organic, finely detailed Frequency pattern— first used in our MetaMIRRORS and born out of our Black Magic Collection. Our Aperture Chair is cast in two background colors, a brilliant blue and a semi-translucent black. As we constructed the chair we intentionally oriented the resin panels so that the background color shifts as you move around the piece, appearing black on one side and blue on the other.
We were honored to present work alongside artists Alanis McNier, Arcana, Bailey Fontaine, Gregory Beson, Ian Felton, Marco Piscitelli, Nicholas Missel, Nicholas Tilma, Ragna Ragnarsdottir, Soren Ferguson, studiovoll, Winston Cuevas, and Zac Hacmon.
“Furniture is no longer solely, or even primarily, a medium of function. It’s starting to become more and more a medium for artistic expression for the sake of artistic expression.” — Fernando Mastrangelo
